Response
I can confirm that IPSA holds the information that falls within the description specified in your request.
You requested a breakdown of IPSA’s current costs. IPSA’s costs for the period to 31 March 2010 can be found in IPSA’s Annual Report and Accounts, published on the IPSA website. I enclose a copy of the report for ease of reference. This information is therefore exempt under Section 21 of the FOIA, because the information is already accessible to you and is in the public domain. A breakdown of IPSA’s costs for the financial year 2010-11 will be published after the end of this financial year. This information is therefore exempt under Section 22 of the FOIA.
You also requested information on IPSA’s structure and staff levels. Please find enclosed an organisation chart for IPSA, correct on 2 December 2010. This chart reflects the permanent positions within IPSA. On 2 December, IPSA had 52 permanent members of staff and 18 temporary members of staff or secondees from various Government departments.
The combined cost of training IPSA’s staff, MPs and MPs’ staff in the period from March 2010 to October 2010 is £314,890. This amount reflects direct training staff costs and non-staff training costs. This does not include the cost of additional time dedicated to training by other members of IPSA’s staff.
You further requested an estimate of the number of data entries per Member to date and a breakdown of those made by IPSA and by service users. I would be grateful if you could clarify the nature of the data entries you wish to receive information on. Once you have done so, we will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.
